Cosplay/Masquerade
Cosplay ("costume" and "roleplay") is a Japanese subculture centered on
dressing as characters from manga, anime, video games, live action
television shows and films, and even Japanese music bands. Some expand the
meaning of "cosplay" to simply mean, wearing a costume. It's common
for like-minded people to gather at conventions such as Ohayocon to see
others' costumes, show off their own elaborate handmade creations, take lots
of pictures, and participate in costume competitions.
